Our Mission

South Bend Community Rowing provides and promotes adult competitive and recreational rowing for the Michiana area communities. Through our quality programming for both Novice and Masters rowers, we serve more than 80 rowers and compete in local, regional, and national regattas. We also offer outreach programs for cancer survivors and veterans within our community, which provide empowerment and healing through team building in a supportive atmosphere.

Why We Ask for Donations

South Bend Community Rowing is an Indiana nonprofit corporation, recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS.

Our organization relies upon member and participant fees, as well as generous donations by members and the community, to fund our programs and operating expenses.

Expenses include equipment such as boats, riggers, oars, coxswain speaker systems, and launch boats needed for coaching on the water. In addition, we pay for programs, coaching, and training, as well as membership in and insurance provided by U.S. Rowing, the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.

Boats range in cost from $2,000 for a single scull to over $12,000 for an eight-oared racing shell. Our current boats have been generously donated or funded by donors within the community. As our club grows, we will add to our fleet to ensure our members and programs have an adequate number of safe, reliable boats.

Together, these critical elements ensure our quality programs can be offered to all who wish to learn about the sport of rowing and those who already share a passion for rowing on our beautiful river.

Please donate today and be a part of South Bend Community Rowing.
